Hey,
The Bakers Office started with a loaf of sourdough I couldn’t find.
Some time in 2016-17, my elder brother visiting from the US, wanted sourdough bread for his daughter. I looked around, but couldn’t find anything that came close to the bread they were used to.
Off an on i kept reading about it and the idea stayed with me.
Around 2022, I decided to try making it myself.
What exactly should a good sourdough bread be … I really wanted to know , and i could not really appreciate what was on offer ? May be I was too naive or i wanted some thing better.
What started as an experiment became a serious hobby — learning about starters, flour, fermentation, hydration and all the things that make a loaf of bread surprisingly complicated.
Over time, the bread got better. Much of it went to friends and family, and whenever I baked more than I needed, I shared it. Eventually, friends started asking why I wasn’t making it for more people.
The cookies came from a similar frustration. I could never quite find the cookie I wanted — buttery, soft, not overly sweet and simple enough to enjoy with coffee or tea. So I started making those too & my biggest customer have been my kids & kids from my friends network. I’ve also been making my end-of-year rum cake for about five years, and that has developed its own small following.
I have been a Management Consultant in my parallel avatar – been doing that for over 18 years now – but Baking is some thing I started loving – it’s like creating magic – creating happiness. This I do simply because I enjoy it.
The Bakers Office is more than a business. It is a way to share a beautiful part of my life with a few more people.
Small batches. Things I enjoy making. Things I hope you’ll enjoy eating.
